How does your media product represent different social groups?
There are many ways that my Media product represents the rock social group. An example of a magazine which is in the music genre of rock is the magazine NME. The magazine images in my magazine are very similar to the images that are in the NME magazine.
Firstly, I will talk about the posture of the people in the pictures. The people on the picture on the left are looking at the camera directly and their bodies are facing towards the camera which shows that they have confidence and are looking directly at the audience. This is also shown in the NME article where the characters in the article are also looking at the camera. The posture of the characters in both the magazines are similar as they are standing side by side and looking at the camera in the picture despite the fact that in my music magazine, the characters bodies are facing the camera whereas in the NME magazine, they are facing away from the camera and are mainly turning their heads to the side t look at the camera.
As for the types of angle shots, there is only a small difference with them as the picture that I have used on my music magazine is a mid shot. I used this to show the expression of the characters faces as well as the clothes that they are wearing so they fit the genre of the magazine. Whereas, the NME magazine uses a close-up shot of the characters faces to show the expression on the faces of the people and to show that they are looking directly at the audience.
As for the lighting in the pictures, they are different. In my picture, the lighting is very good as it is not dim and shows the general mood of the people in the picture. Whereas, in the NME picture the lighting is very dim and poor which matches to the expression of the characters on the picture. This shows that there is a grim, depressed mood behind the people who are in the magazine.
As mentioned previously, the expression of the peoples faces are different. The expression of the people on the picture on my music magazine shows that they are happy whereas, the NME picture shows the people on the front cover are very serious and look at the camera in a very intimidating way which they could do to convince the reader to buy the magazine.
The hair in the images are very similar and different in many ways. It is similar because the people in the images have meduim cut hair which fits the stereotype of a person who likes to listen to rock music. However, it is different because in my image, I used a girl who has long hair and therefore, her hair is a much longer length compared to the length of the people on the NME magazine.
